Business Week has a fascinating article about cost cutting in mass-market apparel. With cotton prices way up and manufacturing costs overall not declining for the first time in memory, low-price makers are cutting where they can. That means dropping details like watch pockets and non-plastic buttons and compromising elsewhere, too. An interesting peek behind the curtain.
