I have to admit I’m a bit of a Kelefa Sanneh fan boy, and I’m so excited to read his article on Dapper Dan in this week’s New Yorker. If you don’t know, Dan was the custom clothier behind the insane fake-luxury hip-hop styles of the mid- to late-1980s. The New Yorker has the article behind their subscriber wall (seriously: subscribe to The New Yorker already), but this awesome slideshow of crazy styles is absolutely free.
