I kind of miss Barney’s Warehouse sales. They used to hold them twice a year in some of the big US cities, and they’d be for previous seasons’ unsold merchandise at basement level prices. People used to go in like rabid dogs and throw stuff around in search of deals. There was something fun about the hunt.
The “sale” is now available year round at a website separate from Barney’s mainpage. The discounts aren’t as deep, but at least you don’t have to give up your dignity to find bargains. At the moment, they’re giving an extra 30% off all men’s items. Pickings are pretty slim, but of what’s still left, there are some grenadine ties from Barney’s house line (I like the brown one shown above); sweaters from Inis Meain, Fioroni, and Barbour’s collaboration with Norton & Sons (this black Shetland is the same shown here, and it fits better in real life than what’s modeled on Barney’s page); scarves from Colombo and Drake’s; as well as some boots from Heschung.
There’s also some swimwear from Onia, which I really like. Their “Calder” model is designed so you can wear the trunks to the beach or pool, but also pair with a button up shirt to wear to lunch afterwards. They look just like a pair of regular shorts, but happen to be made from a quick drying fabric. It’d be hard to find a better pair of swim trunks than these mid-length ones at this price.
