Europe isn’t the only place that’s been getting slammed against the rising US dollar. Canada has been as well – which makes shopping from Canadian stores especially enticing. With the current US- to Canadian-dollar exchange rate, you can expect another 25%-off listed CAD prices.
One of my favorite Canadian shops is Neighbour, which specializes in well-made, pared-down basics that look great, but feel unpretentious. Brands such as Patrik Ervell, Dana Lee, Stutterheim, and Our Legacy are simple enough for almost anyone to get into. They also carry slightly more experimental (but still very wearable) labels such as Stephen Schneider and 1205. Also a favorite: the store’s house line (which sometimes offers slim-fit Shetland sweaters in the fall).
In their sale section right now:
- Subtly textured cotton shirts from Dana Lee, which you can either wear buttoned-up underneath some outerwear or use as a layered overshirt.
- Heavy cotton, navy crewnecks from O’Ballou. The slightly-offset shoulder seam gives the impression of a looser, more relaxed vibe without needing to actually make the body baggy.
- Printed, arafold collar shirts from Sidian Ersatz & Vanes. Something to wear on a weekend trip with sunglasses, chinos, and slip-on footwear.
- Lightwashed, gray jeans from Our Legacy. I really like the barely-tapered, slim-legged design. I wear the same model in lightwashed blue.
Again, you can expect another 25% off at checkout, given that prices are listed in CAD (rather than USD).
