Justice Antonin Scalia, announcing the Supreme Court had upheld a lawsuit filed against Abercrombie and Fitch by a woman who was denied employment there because her religious headscarf violated the company’s “look policy.” Abercrombie claims it has since the incident (in 2008) changed such policies and generally made it stores friendlier, and indeed the top down source of A&F’s more problematic pronouncements (and arguably, its 1990s success), Mike Jeffries, stepped down in December amid plummeting sales.
